Switch Your Browser to Firefox or Chrome Today!

If you are still using Internet Explorer 6 as your main browser, please stop! Do yourself and web designers a favor and make the switch to Firefox or Chrome today!

Internet Explorer 6 is old, really old. It’s not compatible with today’s web standards and makes really good looking websites look really awful. If you ever visit a site while using Internet Explorer 6 you will find that something just doen’t look right or it doesn’t perform the way it should. For example, there may be an extra box around the logo, the spacing between text looks inconsistent or some functions simply do not work.

Firefox and Chrome are both compatible with modern web standards. Without getting too technical, web standards are the “rules and regulations” used when coding a website. These standards have become best practices for website design. Internet Explorer 6 fell behind in its compatibility with these standards, which is why some perfectly designed sites look anything but. And let’s not get into the security concerns in using Internet Explorer 6. If you are still using IE6, you are just inviting trouble in terms of malware, viruses and phishing attacks.

The main reasons we like these browsers are because they display websites the way they were meant to be seen, are fast and provide a safer browsing experience. We also happen to like how customizable they both are.

Firefox add-ons help customize your browsing experience. Firefox has over 6,000 add-ons, more than any other browser. These add-ons include everything from different themes to customize the look of your browser to neat tools that can save time while browsing.

Chrome is customizable through extensions. Although Chrome doesn’t have as many as Firefox, it does have lots of cool extensions to optimize the browsing experience. Most of the extensions rival those available on Firefox, so switching between doesn’t cause that much of a challenge.

So, if you are reading this blog on Internet Explorer 6, do yourself a favor and make the switch to Firefox or Chrome. If you happen to be loyal to Microsoft or Internet Explorer, at least upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or 8. Also, be on the lookout for Internet Explorer 9, which is in beta now.

If you have any questions about some of the other browsers out there, let us know. Also, feel free to share some of your favorite add-ons or extensions below.
